Today, migration is at the top of the political agenda. At the heart of the controversy, it is always easy to forget that part of the problem is due to climate change.

Many rural households do not have the necessary means to farm their land, and the consequences of environmental degradation, drought and loss of biodiversity force them to migrate to cities or abroad in search of new opportunities.

Extreme hunger and malnutrition remain a huge barrier to development in many countries. Many countries experience high or moderately high domestic prices, relative to their historic levels, for one or more staple cereal food commodities. Increases in fuel prices also drove food prices higher. Thirteen of those countries were in sub-Saharan Africa.

That is why we promote sustainable agricultural practices and support small scale farmers, in order to allow equal access to land, technology and markets and to improve agricultural productivity.

Our previous campaigns have enabled many rural households to cultivate their land. The campaigns are done with a joint effort of all branches of Alfityanu Humanitarian, including Luxembourg, France, Senegal, the United States, Spain, England and Germany.

This year, we support the farming of peanuts on 5 hectars, the farming of corn on 4 hectars, and the farming of millet on 9 hectars.
